The Mission Behind the Pack
One Organization, Three Lives
Blue Star Service Dogs rescues dogs from Michigan shelters. They're trained inside three Michigan correctional facilities by inmate handlers who keep them by their side around the clock for months at a time.
The fully accredited dogs are then placed, at no cost, with veterans and first responders living with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries.
The dog gets a second chance. The inmate is trusted with something that matters. The veteran gets back a piece of their life. Every Patriot Pack carries the Blue Star Service Dogs mark.
Blue Star is based in Pinckney, Michigan, fully Assistance Dogs International accredited, and funded almost entirely by people who decide to help.

The serious chew, made the right way.
Made the traditional way
Yak milk, cow milk, lime juice, salt. Hand-pressed by village cooperatives in Nepal using a method passed down for generations. Every chew is hand-inspected at our family-run facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan before it ships.
Built for serious chewers
Firm density that softens gradually with saliva. Hours of focused chewing, not minutes. Mechanically scrubs plaque and tartar with every session. Naturally lactose-free thanks to the slow-curing process.
Variety keeps dogs engaged
Three flavors in one pack means your dog doesn't get bored. Rotating flavors keeps a chew session fresh, which keeps your dog focused on the chew and not on the couch leg.
The Lineup
Three flavors, one curated pack.
Strawberry
Made with real strawberry, slow-pressed into the yak cheese base. The sweet pull most dogs go for first.
Classic
The original Himalayan recipe. Four ingredients, exactly as it has been made for generations.
Blueberry
Real blueberry, antioxidant-rich. The flavor that surprises picky chewers.
How the Partnership Works
From a Michigan shelter to a veteran's side.
You buy a Patriot Pack
Every Patriot Pack carries the Blue Star Service Dogs mark on the box. The partnership is the reason this pack exists.
Blue Star pulls dogs from Michigan shelters
The dogs are trained inside three Michigan correctional facilities by inmate handlers who keep them by their side around the clock for months at a time.
The dogs are placed with veterans and first responders
Fully Assistance Dogs International accredited service dogs, placed at no cost with veterans and first responders living with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries.
"When that vest comes on, I have to treat him like a medical device. I may say I don't want to get out today, but the dog will say, I have to get out, because I'm a dog."
Common Questions
Before you add to cart.
How long does a yak chew typically last?
It depends on your dog. A moderate chewer in the 40 to 70 pound range will usually get 3 to 5 hours per chew across several sessions. Heavy chewers will get less. Light chewers will get more. Every Patriot Pack contains chews sized for medium-to-large breeds.
Is this safe for puppies or aggressive chewers?
Yak chews are appropriate for most adult dogs and supervised aggressive chewers. For puppies, we recommend waiting until adult teeth are fully in, usually around six months of age. As with any chew, supervise your dog and take the chew away when it gets small enough to swallow.
What about allergies or lactose intolerance?
The slow-curing process used to make Himalayan yak chews removes nearly all of the lactose, so most lactose-sensitive dogs handle them well. The chews contain only yak milk, cow milk, lime juice, and salt. The strawberry and blueberry chews include real fruit. If your dog has a known milk-protein allergy, this is not the right chew.
What happens when the chew gets too small to chew safely?
Take it away before it gets small enough to be a choking hazard. Then run the puff trick: soak the nub in warm water for five minutes, then microwave it for 45 to 60 seconds. It puffs into a crunchy cheese treat. Two treats from one chew, zero waste.
When does the Patriot Pack ship and when does it sell out?
The Patriot Pack is a limited summer release, available through July 31. Orders ship from our Sterling Heights, Michigan facility within 1 to 2 business days. After July 31, the pack goes back in the vault until our next patriotic drop. Once this run is sold out, that is it for the season.
Where does the yak cheese actually come from?
The chews are sourced from village cooperatives in Nepal who have been pressing yak cheese using the same traditional method for generations. We hand-inspect every chew at our family-run facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan before it ships to you.
